What is Type 1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.
Insulin is a hormone that allows glucose (sugar) from the food we eat to enter cells and be used for energy. Without insulin, glucose builds up in the bloodstream, leading to high blood sugar levels
Unlike type 2 diabetes, type 1 diabetes is not caused by lifestyle factors and cannot be prevented. It typically appears during childhood or adolescence, but it can develop in adults as well.
Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes
